Supporting the Workers – by Karen King
I walked with my mom to the polls today. It was a beautiful day, and I wish we had taken a selfie. Later I took some salad to a friend of mine who was working and she commented that she could use a coffee. They were stuck there and couldn’t leave their posts, so I offered to do a run to Tim Horton’s for the workers. Someone saw me gathering the orders and gave me $50 that she had gotten from her boyfriend to make sure that those who had given their entire day to our democratic system, would feel appreciated. It takes a lot to have these elections run smoothly, and while I couldn’t give my entire day, it felt good to help them recharge their batteries in the final hours of the polls being open.
Looks like we are giving birth to a Canadian Royal Family.
