Why I Voted – by Katharine Stanbridge
October 20, 2015
Millions of people around the world do not have the right to vote, because of oppressive systems. And so I voted. Thousands lost their lives fighting for freedom, fighting for equality, and fighting for the vote. And so I voted. My great-grandmothers did not have the right to vote, because they were women. And so I voted. My boyfriend’s mother did not have the right to vote in South Africa, because she was a coloured person. And so I voted. I care about the future of my country. And so I voted. I care that I have a voice.
